This is how I started 2020…with a good coffee on the terrace of a Miami apartment in trendy Brickel on the 35th floor. Simply wonderful!

#explore is no longer just a simple tag for me now, but it has become my leitmotif for this year.

So I suggest you follow me on my travels, journeys, and explorations!

And where could I start if not with Miami – a lively city, with stunning skyscrapers, beautiful beaches, turquoise water and smiling people.

When planning a trip I try to organize my time as best as I can, so I gather all the information I need and then divide it into days. This way I know if I have to give up some objectives or when to insert a break. And when I say “break” friends know why 🙂

Yes, I admit I am an active person and only a select few friends appreciate this during our holidays. That’s how I received nicknames like Dora “the Explorer” or Duracell. But now after many trips I’ve learned to strike a balance, if still somewhat leaning toward my more hectic tendencies.

But, back to Miami.  If you do not have too many days available I recommend you don’t miss:

Vizcaya Museum &Garden

The price of an adult ticket is $ 22, for teenagers (ages 13-17) it is $ 15, for children (ages 6-12) it is $ 10, and for children under 6 it is free. Although I did not catch a big line I recommend you to buy your tickets online: https://vizcaya.org/visit/hours-and-admission/

I’ll leave you some pictures that I hope will convince you, it is truly worth it!

Downtown Miami cu Bayfront Park &Bayside Marketplace

If you like skyscrapers here is the perfect place to explore. You can choose to take a comfortable walk, a boat, or metromover which is free and a bit unique for US cities: https://www.miamiandbeaches.com/plan-your-trip/transportation/all-you-need-to-know-about-miami-metromover

Little Havana

A place where Spanish is at home, a place full of color and music. I admit that before we got to the main street I was a little scared because we chose to walk, and after passing the center, the area is no longer so welcoming. But we had no problems and it was a beautiful day.

I haven’t been to Cuba (yet!), but I think the atmosphere here must be very similar to Cuba. People standing at the doors, colored walls, and many places where you can buy a real cigar (and they are happy to explain the ins and outs of cigars when you do).

We chose to relax at a place where they had live music and the World’s Best Mojito, or so they told me, but I couldn’t disagree 😉 https://goo.gl/maps/TMFLsHi8L4jdB5HL7

You can definitely spend a very pleasant day or afternoon here.

Miami Beach – South Beach

There are several beaches in Miami, but we only made it to South Beach, and we loved it. Extremely clean and warm water (even in January), fine sand, as well as some nice amenities.

I would definitely go back here to get the perfect tan.

Key West

And we also reached the southernmost point of the US, a point connected to the land by a bridge straddling two bodies of water, with a length of 11 km.

You have several options to get here, such as by plane, car or bus. Although it is only about a 4-hour drive from Miami, we chose to use a bus tour instead.  But if you don’t mind driving, I recommend the car so you can be more flexible with your day.

I will come back with more details about Key West because there is much more to see.

Let’s take a break from sightseeing, and taste some of the delicious dishes:

Important de stiut:

  • Miami este un oras scump, mai ales cand vine vorba de restaurante;
  • Pentru cazari eu folosesc booking.com, si mai verific anumite detalii/pareri pe tripadvisor;
